DUDLEY, Mass. – Senior
DJ Caron was one of four Nichols College student-athletes to drive in two runs in a 9-4 win over Springfield College Wednesday afternoon in non-conference baseball action at the Nichols Baseball Field.
Sophomore
Johnny Knox and
Brennan Hyde, along with freshman
William Nath, also collected two RBI as the Bison (5-7) won for the fourth time in five outings. Both Nath and Caron finished the afternoon wit three hits to support starting pitcher
Ben Weber, who held the Pride to seven hits and three runs over six innings. He walked two and struck out six to improve to 3-0 on the season.
Nichols scored five times in the fifth to break a three-all tie and grab a 9-3 lead. Caron opened the scoring with a two-run double to center to give the Bison a 5-3 lead before a sac fly off the bat of Hyde brought in the third run of the inning. Later, Caron stole home to make it 7-3 and a Knox single through the left side brought home two more runs.
