BIDDEFORD, Maine – Senior
Sydney Royce scored her first goal of the season midway through the second period to propel the Nichols College women's ice hockey team to a 2-1 win at the University of New England Saturday night in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action at Harold Alfond Forum.
The game-winner was the first of Royce's career and gives the Bison 15 wins on the season, breaking the previous mark of 14 set during the 2018-19 campaign. Sophomore
Grace Wiggett also scored for the Bison while graduate students
Kara Santoro and
Jordyn McGuire, along with senior
Isabella Portt, were credited with assists on the evening.
Freshman
Victoria Bakopanos stopped 29 shots as she moved to 8-6-1 on the season. Nichols will now host its second-ever playoff game Wednesday night at 5:40 p.m. at Levy Rink.
UNE (9-12-2, 9-7-2 CCC) outshot the Bison 30-25.
