Second-place Rams run past Bison

HARRISVILLE, R.I. – Senior Alicia Hunks scored her sixth goal of the season in Nichols College's 5-1 loss to Suffolk University Saturday evening in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) women's ice hockey action at Levy Rink.

Senior Isabella Portt and sophomore Grace Melanson picked up helpers on Hunks' marker, which came on the power play less than two minutes into the contest. Freshman Victoria Bakopanos got the start between the pipes and recorded 39 saves as she moved to 6-6-1 on the season.

The loss drops the Bison to 13-8-1 on the season (8-7-1 CCC). The Rams – who outshot Nichols 44-22 – improved to 17-4-0 (12-3-0 CCC). Stephanie Moy was one of three Rams to record two points on the day.

Prior to the start of the contest, Nichols honored graduate student Mel McAleer for becoming the all-time leading scorer in program history, as well as the first to crack the 100-point mark for her career. Her recognition was followed by a ceremonial puck drop to commemorate the inaugural season of CCC women's ice hockey.
