WESTFIELD, Mass. - The Nichols men's basketball program defeated New England College, 111-79, in the Rick Martin/Hampton Inn Tournament held at the Woodward Center on the campus of Westfield St. University. The Friday night showdown saw six Bison record double digits in points, led by a 24-point performance by junior Ty Rucker. 

The Bison got off to a quick start with senior Quincy Ferebee opening the scoring on the night with a dunk. The Bison would not trail in the contest.

Behind a 17-point first half from Rucker, Nichols closed out the opening frame with a 25-point advantage heading into the half.  

The second half held a similar storyline, as the Bison were able to continue their momentum throughout the final 20 minutes. Nichols had ten different players record points in the contest. 

Rucker led the way for the Bison shooting 82% from the field. This was also his second straight 20-point performance.  

Graduate student Matthew Alectus totaled ten rebounds to go along with his fifteen points, recording his third double-double on the young season.  

Nichols improves to 3-1 with the win, while New England College falls to 0-4. The Bison will continue the Rick Martin/Hampton Inn Tournament tomorrow, Saturday, November 19, when they face off with Middlebury College at 3:00 p.m. at the Woodward Center.
