EAST BOSTON, Mass. – The Nichols men's hockey program earned their first Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) win of the 2022-23 season Saturday evening in a dramatic 4-3 win over Suffolk University at Porrazzo Rink.

The two teams played even in the first period before the two teams exploded for a combined five goals.

Sophomore
Gabe Temple opened the scoring for the Bison (3-3-0, 1-3-0, CCC) with a powerplay goal seven minutes into the frame, assisted by junior
Philip Bjorkman. Suffolk's Tyler Anastasi tied the game with a powerplay goal of his own just under four minutes later.

At the 13:58 mark, freshman
Damon Dulac took the lead back for the Bison with his first career goal. The lead would stand for five minutes, before Suffolk netted two goals in 20 seconds to regain the lead and bring the score to 3-2.

In the third, junior
Dylan McMahon tied the game on a breakaway, fed by sophomore
Josh Dickson. McMahon took the goalie on his backhand, getting him to bite, before beating him around his outstretched leg on his forehand. Just over three minutes later, junior
Quinn McCarthy took the lead back for the Bison with the game-winning goal, assisted by senior
Hunter Fraser.

Freshman netminder
Anthony Bonaldi turned aside 28 shots on his way to his first career win. Cal Wilcox stopped 24 shots for Suffolk in the loss.

The win was also the first of his Nichols career for head coach
Alex Gacek. This was also the first time that Nichols had beat Suffolk since January 5, 2019, when they defeated the Rams 4-2 in Boston, Mass.

Nichols returns home Friday, November 18, to face Wentworth Institute of Technology at 5:40 p.m. at Levy Rink.
