BELMONT, Mass. – Nichols women's tennis capped off their dominating stretch of Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action with a 9-0 sweep of Suffolk on Wednesday night at the Belmont Hill School. The team's fifth-straight victory helped boosted its record to 6-3, finishing CCC play at 5-2.
The Bison once again dominated doubles play, with the No. 1 pairing of
Antonia Carrero &
Charis Vogler starting things off with an 8-3 win fresh off their sweep of the CCC Weekly Awards.
Tifany Lucart &
Sophia Leonardi and
Jordan Knowles &
Kelley Carlin each came away with 8-1 victories on courts two and three, respectively.
Camila Magrin was nearly perfect, adding to the visitors' lead with a 6-1, 6-0 victory in sixth court singles play, followed by
Johanna Schroeder's victory by the same score on the fourth court to clinch the match for the Bison.
Lucart nearly went unblemished, slipping just one game in the second set on the fifth court.
Reining CCC Rookie of the Week, Vogler, defended the second court with a 6-0, 6-2 decision, before Carrero, last week's CCC Player of the Week, continued her stretch of court No. 1 authority with a 6-2, 6-1 win. Leonardi capped off the sweep with an 8-3 third court triumph.
