Golden Bears strong FT shooting helps them defeat Bison

DUDLEY, Mass. – Sophomore Abrianna Vazquez dropped in 27 points for the Nichols College women's basketball team in a 79-64 loss to Western New England University Monday night in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action at the Nichols Athletic Center.

Senior Jillian Spillane added 10 points and five rebounds for the Bison, who forced 23 turnovers which led to 20 points. Junior Leandra Ortiz added nine points while sophomore Summer Klein pulled down seven rebounds to go with five points.

Nichols (7-10, 3-7 CCC) shot 31 percent from the field (22-of-70) and was outrebounded 48-31. The Golden Bears (7-11, 5-6 CCC) did not shoot particularly well themselves, going 22-of-66 from the field, but knocked down 27 of their 38 attempts from the charity stripe as a total of 50 fouls were called between the two teams.
