SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The Nichols College softball team saw its 2021 season come to an end with a pair off losses at Western New England University Saturday afternoon in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Pod Semifinal action at Golden Bear Softball Park.
 
Game One: Golden Bears 5, Bison 3
 
Junior Samantha Kostek had two hits and an RBI, and both graduate student Taylor Commesso and senior Colleen Callahan registered run-scoring singles for the Bison, who trailed 5-1 before tacking on runs in the sixth and seventh. The contest ended with the tying runs on first and second base. Freshman Crystal Nelson allowed seven hits and five runs over 2.1 innings pitched as she suffered the loss.
 
Game Two: Golden Bears 8, Bison 3
 
Freshman Lilly Fangel laced a three-run double in the first and finished with three hits, while Kostek picked up two more hits for Nichols (16-12). Junior Candice Nelson, sophomore Alyssa Ouellette, and Crystal Nelson allowed eight runs (seven earned) to go with five walks and two strikeouts.
