Bison walk off twice against Colonels, extend win streak to six

DUDLEY, Mass. – The Nichols College baseball team recorded a pair of walk-off wins against Curry College Saturday afternoon in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action at the Nichols Baseball Field.

Game One: Bison 14, Colonels 13 (9 inn.)

Graduate student Jack Arend belted his first home of the season with one down in the ninth as the Bison rallied from an 11-1 deficit to extend their win streak to five.  Classmate Kyle Bouchard drove in three runs while sophomore Will Kleinhenz and freshman Victor Valentin each plated two runs. The Bison pushed across eight runs in the eighth, highlighted by a two-run double form Valentin and a three-run shot from Bouchard, giving him a dinger in four-straight games and eight on the season. Junior Brendan Duffy picked up his first win of the season as he fanned four in two hitless innings of relief.

Game Two: Bison 7, Colonels 6 (8 inn.)

Graduate student Christian Naccari moved into sole possession of third place on the program's all-time home run list and junior DJ Caron drove in the game-winning run with a single in the bottom of the eighth. Naccari's two-run home run in the first gave him 12 career round-trippers and puts him two behind Mike Barry for second place (14). Caron, meanwhile, finished the afternoon 3-for-5 with two RBI while Arend and freshman Brennan Hyde each drove in one. Freshman Andrew Croteau came on in relief in the top of the fourth and hurled 5.1 innings of three-hit ball to earn his first collegiate victory. He did not walk a batter and struck out one.
