Rams fend off Bison in opener for both

Recap
Graduate Student and captain Nate Foster picked up a goal and two assists in Nichols College's 5-3 loss at Suffolk University Sunday afternoon at Porazzo Rink.

Junior Curtis Carlson went for a goal and an assist while sophomore Hunter Fraser also found the back of the net for the Bison (0-1-0), who saw their six-game unbeaten streak against the Rams halted. Freshman Philip Björkman collected his first collegiate point - an assist - on Foster's marker in the first period while juniors Petr Miko and Lucas Andersson also notched an assist.

The Rams outshot the Bison 31-24 - including 15-9 in the opening stanza - where a pair of Nichols student-athletes, junior Noah Poindexter and sophomore Austan Bellefeuille, each received a game misconduct. Nichols finished with 42 PIM as Suffolk converted on two of its nine PP chances. Sophomore Alex Kolowrat struck twice with the extra attacker in the opening 5:42 of the contest.

Senior Matt Efros turned aside 26 shots for Nichols.
