Bison upended in opener by Suffolk

Recap
Freshman Macee Salley potted her first collegiate goal in Nichols College's 5-3 loss to Suffolk University in women's ice hockey action Friday afternoon at Porazzo Rink.

Senior Mel McAleer and junior Katelyn Joyal also scored for the Bison (0-1) while senior Abby Bassett got the start in net and turned aside 23 of 24 shots before being replaced midway through the second period. Nichols (0-1-0) was outshot 51-24 on the afternoon but managed to kill off all nine Suffolk PP chances.

Junior Julia Volpe and sophomore Cassidy Gruning each picked up a goal and an assist for the Rams (1-0-0), who saw 11 different student-athletes record at least one point.
