Bison take care of business in opener against Panthers, 95-78

DUDLEY, Mass. – Senior Jakigh Dottin scored a game-high 24 points to lift the Nichols College men's basketball team to a 95-78 win over Plymouth State University in the season-opener for both Friday night in non-conference action at the Nichols Athletic Center.

Classmate Jaekwon Spencer added 20 points and nine boards for the Bison while senior Jason O'Regan collected 12 points and seven rebounds in head coach Brock Erickson's coaching debut. Nichols (1-0) outrebounded the Panthers 44-35 behind nine each from Spencer and graduate student Matt Morrow.

Nichols – which rallied from an eight-point halftime deficit to win – shot 48 percent from the field and knocked down nine triples. Spencer tied the game at 66 with a three-pointer at 7:35 before a pair of free throws from O'Regan one minute later gave the Bison the lead for good.

Manny Sanchez paced the Panthers (0-1) with 17 points while Devin Cooper chipped in with 16 points.
