The Nichols College men's tennis team dropped there Spring opener to Franklin Pierce University 7-0 in non-conference action Sunday afternoon at the Pomfret School in Pomfret, Conn.

The Ravens (5-5) grabbed the first point of the match after sweeping the Bison in all three doubles matches 6-3 to take the early 1-0 advantage. In singles action, the Bison dropped all six but were close in the first and second singles spot with senior Brandon Howard dropping the first set 7-6(8-6), before being closed out in the second set 6-3. Classmate Guilherme Barbosa was in the second singles spot and he to had a tie break in set one, dropping it with a score of 7-6(7-3) to Yuval Barak.

The Ravens went on to complete the sweep of the Bison, highlighted by a dominating performance at the No. 6 singles spot where Alejandro Ortiz closed out junior Sam Kluger 8-1.

Three things you need to know...
-The Bison have now opened up the season with a 1-2 record for each of the last four seasons.
-Today's match marked the first time since a Second Round NCAA game in 2018 the Bison have been shutout in a match.
-Today's match marked the fourth all-time meeting between the two programs.
