CLERMONT, Fla. – Graduate student
Jessica Kuelling drove in five runs and senior
Alexandria Rodi plated four as the Nichols College softball team closed the 2020 campaign with wins over Bridgewater State University (7-2) and Keuka College (8-0) Sunday afternoon at Legends Way Ballfields in Clermont, Fla.
The senior shined for head coach
Kristan Mallet in both wins to send the Bison home from 'The Sunshine State' with a 3-3 record. Seniors
Cara Mayhew and
Katrina Valeri each went 2-for-3 with an RBI against the Wolves while senior
Alexis Ferris tossed five innings of shutout ball in her final appearance in the circle. She surrendered two hits, walked two, and fanned three to bring her career total to 415 – No. 1 all-time at Nichols.
Sophomore
Mackenzie Bourgault and freshman
Allie Brown also drove in runs for Nichols on the afternoon. Freshman
Alyssa Ouellette, meanwhile, picked up her first collegiate complete game against the Bears, allowing two runs (one earned) over seven to move to 2-0. She did not walk a batter and struck out two.
Proving just how much promise Mallet's squad contained, this marks just the second time since 2008 the Bison were .500 or better through the first six games of their spring break trip, joining the 2017 squad which won four of their first six games in Florida.
