Recap
Senior
Kyle Bouchard belted three doubles and drove in two runs as the Nichols College baseball team defeated Clarkson University 9-6 Saturday afternoon at Lake Myrtle Park in Auburndale, Florida.
Nichols (5-2) got off to a hot start, batting around in the first inning and jumping out to a quick 3-1 lead after just one inning of work. Bouchard sent his first double of the game to deep right-center field to drive in sophomore
DJ Caron for the first run of the ballgame. The Knights (1-5) responded in the first inning with a sac fly, and a two-run single from Michael Tito in the second inning to knot the game at two apiece.
The Bison re-took the lead in the top of the fourth inning with another double from Bouchard, this time down the right field line, driving in Caron to take the 4-3 lead. After six innings of work, the game remained tied at six apiece. However, a pair of triples off the bats of junior
Nathaniel Cormier and Caron helped life the Bison to a 9-6 win.
Nichols junior
Justin Hurley came in for relief pitching four innings and giving up only one earned run. However, senior
Brodie Altiere was credited with the win, after going three innings, and giving up one earned run on five hits. Sophomore
Brendan Duffy came in for the ninth inning sitting the Knights down 1-2-3 to cap off the victory.
