Bison fall to 13th ranked Mammoths

Recap
The Nichols College men's soccer team lost to Amherst College 2-0 Wednesday night at Gooding Field in Amherst, Massachusetts.

The Bison (1-2-0) were locked in a defensive battle for much of the first half, with senior goalie Juan Carlos De La Cruz helping the Bison with four saves in the first half. Nichols went into the half tied at zero apiece despite being outshot 15-2 in the first half. Amherst (1-0-0) broke the scoreless tie in the 66th minute with a goal from German Giammattei.

The Mammoths added another goal in the 83rd minute, this time off the foot of Dane Lind, with an assist from Ignacio Cubbedu. Amherst was able to hold the ball for much of the game in their offensive zone, out shooting Nichols 27-5 in the game.
 
Three things you need to know…
-There was a total of four yellow cards handed out in the game, two to each team.
-Today's match marked the first ever meeting between the two programs.
-Giammattei led all student-athletes with eight shots in the game.
