The Nichols College women's volleyball team overcame a sluggish start to defeat Dean College 3-1 in non-conference action Thursday night at the Nichols Athletic Center. After dropping the first set 29-27, the Bison rallied back to win game two 25-16, game three 25-13, and game four 25-18.
The Bison were led by senior
Megan Gardner with eight kills and sophomore
Regan Richard with seven. Sophomore
Rachael Veilleux handed out 29 assists and also picked up four blocks, classmate
Jayleen Fegan tallied 21 digs, and sophomore
Sophie Czerepica accumulated five service aces.
Senior Kaitlyn Anderson paced the Bulldogs (2-9) with a match-high 17 kills and also recorded 10 digs.
Three things you need to know...
-Tonight's contest marks the second all-time meeting between Nichols College and Dean College. The series is tied at 1-1.
-The Bison had 10 service errors in the opening frame but finished the match with a season-high tying 19 service aces – three shy of the program-record of 22 set last season against Anna Maria.
-Nichols now has seven wins in 2019, which surpasses the program record of six set during the program's inaugural season of 2016.
