No. 48 Merrimack doubles up Nichols

Recap
The Nichols College men's tennis team lost to Division two No. 48 Merrimack College 6-3 in a non-conference game on the Robinson Tennis Courts in Dudley, Massachusetts.

The Bison (8-6) took two of the three doubles matches, as they got off to a hot start. Nichols took the No. 1 doubles 8-6 with Guilherme Barbosa and Brandon Howard teaming up to take down Denis Davydov and Conrad Koch. The duo pair of Peter Coletti and Igor Markowski received the 8-4 win at the No. 3 doubles to propel the Bison into singles play with the 2-1 advantage.

Merrimack took five of the six singles matches, but Coletti had other plans as he picked up the lone Bison win in singles at the No. 5 spot with a 2-6, 6-3, 7-5 victory.

Quote
"I'm extremely happy with the way our guys competed today against a very talented team and a nationally ranked division two program. We got off to a great start in doubles, we were strong in all three spots and it was great to take two points early. Singles wise I think we showed great fight. Coletti deserves a ton of credit for his effort today, he was amazing in doubles and gutted out a tough singles match. Blake Norton played his best match of the season and came up just short in an incredible match. Hopefully this weekend sets the tone for the final month of the campaign." -Nichols head coach Paul Brower
