Anchorwomen edge Bison, 13-12

Senior Kirsten Sullivan scored five goals for the Nichols College women's lacrosse team, which was defeated by Rhode Island College 13-12 Tuesday night in non-conference action in Providence, R.I.
 
Classmate McKayla Pratte netted three goals for the Bison (2-7), who also received a pair of goals and four ground balls from junior Miranda Smith. Freshman Claire Matlak collected four ground balls while junior Danielle Kozloski won a team-high five draw controls.
 
Giana Ritchie potted six goals for the Anchorwomen (3-3) while Madison McKenna racked up three points (2-1-3) and Morgan Pero won nine draw controls. RIC fell behind 3-0 as Smith scored twice early for the Bison, but battled back to grab a 6-5 lead at halftime. Ritchie then broke a 12-all tie with her sixth tally of the contest with 6:02 to go in the second half.
 
Three things you need to know...
            -The Anchorwomen outshot the Bison 42-27 and forced 31 turnovers.
            -Nichols junior goalie Emily Eagan turned aside 22 shots – her second 20+ save game of the season.
            -The hat trick was the second of the season for Pratte (Elms, March 12).
