Junior Alexis Ferris pitched a complete-game shutout to lead the Nichols College softball team to a 1-0 win over Wis.-Superior Sunday afternoon at Legends Way Ballfields in Clermont, Fla.
 
Game One: Ripon 3, Nichols 0
Junior Katrina Valeri collected her first collegiate hit, a double to left field in the fifth, and senior Callie Andrews slapped a single in the fourth for the Bison. Sophomore Shannon Morin surrendered a home run on the first pitch of the game but settled down after, allowing three hits and three runs while striking out three. Freshman Samantha Kostek threw out a runner at home from centerfield in the third inning to keep it a one-run game.
 
Game Two: Nichols 1, Wis.-Superior 0
Sophomore Colleen Callahan drove in the only run of the contest with an RBI groundout in the first inning. Ferris did the rest, surrendering just two hits to go with two strikeouts. She was backed by tremendous defense, including a diving catch from Andrews in the fifth that took her into the fence.
