No. 20 Bison roll past UNE, 83-61

Senior Marcos Echevarria led five Nichols College student-athletes in double figures with 18 points in an 83-61 win over the University of New England Saturday afternoon in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) men's basketball action at Harold Alfond Forum.
 
Junior Jerome Cunningham filled the stat sheet with 11 points, 12 rebounds, seven dimes, three blocks, and two steals for the No. 20 ranked Bison (21-2, 13-1 CCC), who ran their win streak to 10 heading into Wednesday's showdown with Gordon, with whom they share first place. Sophomore Matt Morrow also recorded a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds while junior DeAnte Bruton picked up 16 points, four rebound, and three steals and sophomore Nate Tenaglia collected 11 points, four assists, and three boards.
 
Ryan Beatty dropped in a team-high 17 points for the Nor'easters (6-18, 4-11 CCC), who also saw Drew Panto register 15 points and 10 rebounds. UNE shot 32 percent and committed 17 turnovers which led to 24 NC points.
 
Three things you need to know...
            -Today's contest marked the 29th all-time meeting between Nichols College and UNE. The Bison have won eight of the last nine meetings and lead the series, 24-5.
            -With five three-pointers this afternoon, Echevarria moved into a tie for fourth place on the all-time Division III list with 449 career three-pointers. He is tied with Steve Nordlund of Grinnell (2001-04).
            -The Bison are a perfect 10-0 on the road this season.
