McAleer's two goals lead Bison past Nor'easters

Recap
The Nichols College women's ice hockey team defeated The University of New England 3-1 in Colonial Hockey Conference (CHC) action Friday night in Biddeford, Maine.

Nichols sophomore Mel McAleer helped ignite the offense for the Bison (13-8-3, 7-3-1 CHC) with a pair of goals, including a power-play goal in the second period to give Nichols the 1-0 lead. Fellow senior Kelly Ferreira and freshman Isabella Portt pitched in with two assists apiece in the victory. After McAleer gave the Bison the one goal lead at the 6:43 mark in the second period, the Nor'easters (15-8-1, 5-5-1 CHC) answered right back three minutes later with a goal from Shannon Nadeau, and a helper from Tatum Gietl.

Sophomore Jordyn McGuire potted the game winning goal, on the power-play just two minutes later at the 11:32 mark in the second period with assists from Portt and Ferreira. McAleer padded the lead with her second goal of the game and 12th of the season 11 minutes into the third period with a helper from senior MacKenzie Lyons, that gave the Bison the 3-1 advantage.
