Â
Senior Eric Demers led all student-athletes with 49 points (18-of-31 FG) as the Fighting Scots (5-3, 1-1 CCC) nearly knocked off the No. 17-ranked Bison. He was the only double-digit scorer for Gordon.
Â
The Fighting Scots held a three-point lead late in regulation before Tenaglia canned a triple with 58 seconds left to tie the game at 68. Freshman Justin Yu answered with a three of his own to put the home team back in front by three, but Bruton sank a triple of his own with nine seconds on the clock to force OT.
Â
Tengalia's jumper 22 seconds into overtime gave the Bison an early advantage at 73-71. Morrow hit one of two from the line just over one minute later to stretch the lead to three (74-71) before Demers snared points 48 and 49 of the evening to make it a one-point game (74-73) with 1:20 to go.
Â
A missed jumper by Bruton with 17 seconds left gave the Fighting Scots one last chance to win the game, but senior
Kash Jackson stole the ball, forcing Gordon to foul. Tenaglia knocked down both FT attempts with two seconds remaining and the Fighting Scots did not get off a shot before the final horn.
