Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Bison blast Lancers in home opener

Recap
Sophomore Jason O'Regan knocked down four triples and finished with 18 points in Nichols College's 89-53 win over Worcester State University Saturday afternoon in non-conference men's basketball action at the Nichols Athletic Center.

The No. 10-ranked Bison shot a scorching 54 percent and canned 12 three-pointers to remain unbeaten on the season at 4-0. O'Regan was one of 11 different student-athletes to score for Nichols, which saw senior DeAnte Bruton (17 points), sophomore Jaekwon Spencer (12 points), and senior Joseph Sekator (10 points) all reached double-figures in points.

Sophomore Tyren Clark scored a career-high five points in 14 minutes of action off the bench for first-year head coach Branton Linton while Sekator's 10 points was also a career-high. Junior Ferryton Kpalie pulled down a career-high six rebounds.

Senior Tyler Dion was the only Lancers student-athlete to hit double-figures as he netted 11 points (3-of-6 three-pointers). The visitors shot just 27 percent from the field and miss 23 of their 31 attempts from behind the arc.

Three things you need to know...
-Today's contest marked the 88th all-time meeting between Nichols College and Worcester State University and first since 2012. The Bison have won the last three meetings but trail the series, 52-36.
-Dion was a member of two Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Championship teams at Nichols (2016-17, 2017-18) and scored 16 points in the Bison's first-ever win in the NCAA Tournament against nationally-ranked Neumann on March 3, 2017 in Aston, Pa.
-Junior preseason All-America pick Matt Morrow filled the stat sheet with nine points, seven rebounds, three steals, one assist, and one block in 21 minutes.

Quote
"I was proud of our team effort from start to finish. It was probably our most complete effort on both sides of the floor this season. A bunch of guys contributed and stuffed the stat sheet. We challenged them defensively and got after it, which I was glad to see." –Nichols head coach Brandon Lindon
