The Nichols College men's tennis team defeated Coast Guard 6-3 Sunday afternoon in non-conference action in New London, Connecticut.

The Bison (1-0) started off there 2019-20 campaign by defeating the Bears (0-1), Nichols took two of three in doubles play highlighted by wins at the No. 1 doubles spot (8-3) and the No. 3 doubles spot (8-3). Seniors Brandon Howard and Guilherme Barbosa took the win at the No. 1 doubles spot while freshman Jason Lee and junior Sam Kluger also picked up wins in doubles play.

Nichols then went on to take four of the six singles spots to secure the 6-3. Barbosa, Lee, senior Peter Coletti and freshman Kerem Subasi all picked up singles wins in the match.

"Today was a great showing for the guys against a quality opponent. We played some strong doubles, nearly earning the sweep. In singles we had a very solid day. Gui played well to clinch the team match in the third. Jack has a solid showing as did our first years JJ and Kerem. The match of the day goes to Pete Coletti at 3, he gutted out an incredible match.
