Recap
Senior
Jacob Sargent scored his 10th goal of the season 5:53 into overtime to give the Nichols College men's soccer team a 2-1 win over Gordon College Tuesday afternoon in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action on Vendetti Field in Dudley, Massachusetts.
The Bison (11-5-2, 4-3-1 CCC) and the Fighting Scots (5-10-2, 3-4-1 CCC) went into the half in a scoreless tie. Nichols outshot Gordon 5-3 in the first half but neither team was able to find the back of the net. Almost 30 minutes went by in the second half before Gordon's Nate Boyer found the back of the net with an assist from Max Farner to put the Scots up 1-0 late.
However, the Bison had other plans as senior
Brian Czuba received a pass from freshman
Benjamin DeMaio to tie the game at a goal apiece in the 86th minute and force overtime. Midway through the first OT period, sophomore
Ryan Mangan found a ball of a cross and passed it to Sargent, who was able to one-time it into the back of the net to seal the Bison's 2-1 overtime victory.

-The Bison finish the regular season with an 8-1-0 home record - their best since 2014 (10-0-2).
-This was Nichols first win over Gordon since a 2-1 double OT triumph in the CCC Championship back on November 8, 2014 at Vendetti Field.
-Sargent's 10 goals are the most for a Nichols student-athlete since Scott Palmerino potted 10 during the 2013 campaign.

Quote
"Today was a battle back and forth. I expected Gordon to posses the ball well. We played our style of soccer and got the results despite having five players unable to dress today. We look forward to the ride over to Western New England on Saturday for the first round of the CCC playoffs." –Nichols head coach
Chris Traina
