Recap
Sophomore
McKenna Gernander potted a pair of power-play goals as the Nichols College women's ice hockey team defeated Endicott 3-0 in Colonial Hockey Conference (CHC) action Friday night at Levy Rink in Harrisville, Rhode Island.
The Gulls (10-4-4, 2-2-1 CHC) outshot the Bison (10-6-3, 4-2-1 CHC) in the first period 12-7 before falling behind late in the second period. Gernander found a pass from sophomore
Mel McAleer who was able to control a deflected shot from senior
Kelly Ferreira to give the Bison the 1-0 lead at the 14:34 mark in the second period. Late in the third period, Gernander found the back of the net once again after slightly deflecting a shot from Ferreira. McAleer also picked up an assist on the goal for her second of the game and 15th of the season.
The Gulls pulled junior goaltender Alyssa Peterson with 1:17 remaining in the third period as a last ditch effort to get back into the game. Senior
Jensen Wurm had other plans however, as she collected a pass along the boards from freshman
Alicia Hunks and sent a full-ice shot towards the empty net and potted her first collegiate goal in her 65th career game played.
