Nichols defeats Roger Williams, 8-1

Recap
Senior Alanna Judd was one of four Nichols College women's tennis student-athletes to secure a win in both singles and doubles in an 8-1 win over Roger Williams University Monday afternoon in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action at the Robinson Tennis Courts.

Judd teamed with junior Amarie Settiwongse for an 8-3 win at No. 1 doubles before scoring a 6-3, 6-0 win at No. 2 doubles over junior Taryn Roche. Settiwongse, meanwhile, notched a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 1 singles over sophomore Heidi Martin.

Junior Megan Nathanson and sophomore Juliana Herrera also picked up two points for NC (7-0, 3-0 CCC). Nathanson downed sophomore Morgan Crimmins at No 5 singles, 6-1, 6-2, while Herrera knocked off freshman Tanya Hianitsos at No. 6 singles, 6-4, 6-2.

Three things you need to know...
-Fresh off their Flight B Doubles Championship at last week's Grass Court Doubles Championship at the International Tennis Hall of Fame, Nathanson and classmate Rachel McDonald picked up an 8-3 win at No. 2 doubles.
-Settiwongse now has 46 career singles wins, pushing her into sole possession of sixth-place on the all-time list at Nichols.
-The Hawks lone point came at No. 4 singles, where junior Jessica Magliato upended junior Isabelle Leonardi in a tiebreaker, 6-4, 4-6, 6-10.

Quote
"Today was a solid win for the program. Roger Williams has always been one of the top teams in our conference. Being able to control the match in both singles and doubles play is a good sign for us going forward." -Nichols associate head coach Eduardo Irizarry
