Bison end year with setback to Gulls

DUDLEY, Mass. – The Nichols College women's lacrosse team wrapped up the 2018 season with a 23-5 setback to Endicott College on Tuesday afternoon in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action in Dudley, Mass.
 
Nichols ends the year at 4-11 overall and 0-8 in the CCC, while Endicott improves to 12-3 and 8-0 in league games, earning the top seed in the upcoming CCC Tournament.
 
Junior Kirsten Sullivan led the Bison with two goals and an assist to go with a pair of groundballs and a draw control. Senior Lindsay O'Connell added a pair of goals and five groundballs, while sophomore Miranda Smith rounded out the scorers with a goal and three groundballs.
 
Freshman Lizz McKinnon recorded a pair of groundballs to go with a team-best two caused turnovers, while senior Mellissa LaFleur posted a groundball and four draw controls. Sophomore Emily Eagan grabbed a groundball while making 15 saves in the defeat.
 
Endicott was led by an 11-point day from sophomore Meghan Dutchyshyn. Sophomore Jennifer Lacroix and junior Ali Campbell had four goals apiece, while sophomore Alex Fitzgerald and senior Erin McCarthy had two goals and an assist each. Junior Bella Rino picked up her 12th win of the season, stopping five shots in the first half, while freshman Alexandra Rose made four saves and allowed four goals in the second half.
 
The Gulls held a 44-16 advantage in shots in the game, while grabbing 24 groundballs compared to 17 for the Bison. Endicott posted 23 draw controls to six for Nichols, while the Gulls committed nine turnovers to 11 for the Bison. Both teams were effective on clears as Nichols went 12-for-16 and Endicott went 13-for-15.
 
All-Time Series
Endicott remained unbeaten in the series dating back to 2001, improving to 18-0 against the Bison.
