Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

Bison fall in OT to Gulls

DUDLEY, Mass. – Graduate student Reece O'Connor picked up five points in Nichols College's 8-7 overtime loss to Endicott College Tuesday night in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) men's lacrosse action at Vendetti Field.

O'Connor scored two goals – including the game-tying goal with five seconds left in regulation – and dished out three assists for the Bison, who end the season with an 11-6 mark (3-5 CCC). The 11 wins is the second-highest win total in program history. Junior Brayden Carroll notched three points (1-2-3) while junior goalie Brian McKinley stopped 11 shots.

Sophomore Nick Arcadipane potted four goals for the Gulls and freshman Jack Sutherland racked up six assists. Sophomore Ben Clark scored the game-winner with 1:32 remaining in overtime to push Endicott's record to 6-10 (6-2 CCC).

Arcadipane's second goal of the evening and 21st of the season 51 seconds into the second half gave the Gulls a 4-1 lead. Goals from freshman Brendan Coates at 6:37 and junior Jack Campanale with eight seconds remaining in the third cut the Nichols' deficit to one (4-3) heading to the fourth quarter.

Senior MacKenzie Martin scored his team-leading 32nd goal of the season 3:26 into the fourth quarter to tie the game at four. Later, with the score knotted at five, Arcadipane struck for two goals in a span of 1:40 to give the Gulls a 7-5 lead with 2:16 remaining in regulation.

The Bison rallied to tie the game as Carroll's 27th marker with 1:20 to go in regulation gave the Bison life. Following a pair of timeouts, O'Connor collected a low pass from Carroll and knocked the ball past Endicott junior goalie Patrick Dean to force overtime. Needing a win to earn a playoff berth for a second-consecutive season, Endicott possessed the ball for the majority of the extra session and pulled out the win on Clark's 14th goal of the season.

Endicott won 14-of-18 face-offs and outshot the Bison 41-25, led by Sutherland with 10. Junior Derek Yannone grabbed a game-high 12 ground balls for EC while Martin led Nichols with five.

Martin finishes his career No. 1 all-time at Nichols in games played (67), No. 2 in points (183), No. 3 in goals (118), and No. 7 in assists (65). O'Connor, meanwhile, ranks No. 6 in assists (68) and points (139).
