CHICOPEE, Mass. – Five different players had multi-point days as the Nichols College women's lacrosse team cruised to a 17-6 victory over Elms College on Thursday night in non-league action at Leary Field in Chicopee, Mass.
Junior
Kirsten Sullivan scored six goals, while senior
Lindsay O'Connell scored four goals and added a pair of assists to lead the Bison. Sophomore

Mellissa LaFleur, and sophomore
Miranda Smith each scored two goals apiece, with senior
Allison Bench rounding out the scoring with a tally.
Defensively, Sullivan added a pair of groundballs, while LaFleur pulled down a game-high 12 draw controls. Sophomore
Emily Eagan earned the win for the Bison, stopping seven shots while leading the team with three groundballs. Sophomore
Molly Steen also made an appearance in goal, making one save while giving up one goal in seven minutes of action.
Elms was paced by four goals and an assist from sophomore Haley Richard. Freshman Erienne Dowe led the defense with four draw controls, while senior Madison Jung and freshman Emily Huber had two groundballs apiece. Huber ended the night with eight saves in the setback.
Nichols held a 31-17 edge in shots in the game, while doubling up the Blazers in groundballs (12-6). The Bison forced 22 Elms turnovers and had a 15-10 advantage in draw controls, while both teams were only had one failed clear per side.
The Bison raced out to a 5-0 lead in the opening 7:54 of action and eventually took a 9-3 lead into the break. Elms would only get as close as 12-5 the rest of the way as Nichols ended the game on a 5-1 run to pull out the 17-6 win.
Nichols improves to 3-7 overall with the win, and the Bison will host Maine-Farmington on Saturday afternoon at 3:00 p.m. in their next contest. Elms falls to 3-8 overall with the setback.

Nichols and Elms have met eight times since 2000 and the Bison lead the all-time series, 6-2.
