The Nichols College men's tennis program lost to Coast Guard 5-4 Monday afternoon at the Robinson Tennis Courts in Dudley, Massachusetts.
Nichols juniors
Guilherme Barbosa and
Brandon Howard picked up the only win at doubles for the Bison (1-2) with an 8-5 win at the No. 2 spot. Coast Guard (2-1) went into singles action with a 2-1 lead.
Three other Nichols student-athletes picked up win in singles action: seniors
Blake Norton, and
Sebastian Penaloza, and junior
Peter Coletti. Norton with a 6-1, 6-0 win at the No. 2, Penaloza picked up the 4-6, 6-2, 6-4 victory in the four spot, and Coletti won with a score of 7-6(5), 6-2 at the No. 6.Â
Coast Guard picked up wins at the No. 1, 3, and 5 singles to seal the win for the Bears.

-Two other Nichols student-athletes participated in play: junior
Jack Donaldson, and senior
Igor Markowski.
 -With today's loss, the Bison open up the season 1-2 for the third-straight year. Each time, they went on to win the Commonwealth Coast Conference Championship.
 -Penaloza needed a third set to take the win at the No. 4 singles, 4-6, 6-2, 6-4.
