Bison claim Boston Landing Collegiate Invite, defeat Elmira 4-3

BOSTON, Mass. – Senior Chris Deming scored a pair of second-period goals to help the Nichols College men's ice hockey team score a 4-3 win over Elmira College and win the second annual Boston Landing Collegiate Invitational Saturday night at Warrior Ice Arena.

Senior netminder Colin Brennan – who recorded 45 saves in yesterday's win over St. Thomas (MN) – turned aside 37 shots to earn All-Tournament Team honors for the Bison. Sophomores J.B. Baker and David Chevrier also potted goals for NC, which was outshot 40-24.

Sophomore Nick Ford collected a goal and two assists for the Eagles while sophomores Connor Powell Spencer MacLean also found the back of the net. Powell earned All-Tournament Team honors for Elmira.

Following a scoreless first period, Chevrier staked the Bison to a 1-0 lead at 1:24 with a back-door goal off a feed from sophomore Vincent Crivello. Deming's first marker at 12:18 of the stanza came off a scramble in front, and his second was a one-timer off from the right circle following a face-off win by Crivello.

Baker pushed the lead to 4-0 early in the third when he chased down a loose puck and snapped a shot inside the left post. The Eagles answered with three-straight goals – two of which came on the power-play – and closed the third outshooting the Bison 19-3.

Elmira freshman goalie Gennaro Anzevino made 20 saves.

All-Time Series
Tonight's contest marked the third all-time meeting between Nichols College and Elmira College. The Bison now trail the series, 1-2-0.

Quotes
"This win means a lot. There are a lot of people behind the scenes that help put this event together. It's a justification and a validation of how hard they work. This is a sweet win and I'll remember it forever. We had to go through two great, tough programs in St. Thomas and Elmira. It says a lot about our guys. We bent at times, but didn't break and found a way to get the job done." –Nichols head coach Parker Burgess
