NEWPORT, R.I. - The Nichols College baseball team eliminated Curry College 6-4 from the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Tournament Sunday afternoon at Reynolds Field.

The Bison dropped the first game of the tournament to Curry but had to play the Colonels again following Curry's loss to top-seeded Salve Regina earlier in the day.

Senior
Matt Hardy (North Attleboro, Mass.) drove in three runs and scored another while junior
Nick Roy (Middletown, Conn.) had a game-high three hits to go with a pair of runs to lead the Bison.

The Colonels were led by senior Alex McLean (Eliot, Maine) who finished 2-for-4 with a pair of runs scored and two RBI's. Juniors John Cave (Tewksbury, Mass.) and John Cage (Glendora, Calif.) also had two-hit days for Curry.

Sophomore
Danny Hayden (East Greenwich, R.I.) earned his conference-leading seventh win of the season after allowing just one run on three hits and two walks through six innings of work while striking out seven.

Colonels sophomore southpaw Matt Fogarty (Millis, Mass.) took the loss after firing 7.1 innings and allowing three runs on nine hits and three walks and four strikeouts.

Eight of the Bison's nine starters had hits in the game – while Roy, freshman
Kyle Bouchard (Fall River, Mass.) and sophomore
Joe Assenza (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) had at least two hits each.

The Bison led 3-1 through the first five innings and added three more in the ninth off a three-run homerun from Hardy to secure the win.

The Bison have defeated the Colonels in four of the last five meetings and lead the all-time series at, 35-23.
