Seahawks take a pair from Bison

NEWPORT, R.I. – The Nichols College softball team was dropped a pair of games at Salve Regina University Saturday afternoon in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action at Toppa Field.
 
Game One: Salve Regina 7, Nichols 2
Junior Kendall Meehan (Danvers, Mass.) went 3-for-3 with an RBI and freshman Jessica Kueling (Gales ferry, Conn.) was 2-for-3 with two RBI for the Bison. Freshman Alexis Ferris (Holyoke, Mass.) got the start in the circle and surrendered nine hits and seven runs in five innings of work. She walked six and fanned five.
 
Junior Francesca Galeazzi (Lynn, Mass.) collected two hits and an RBI for the Seahawks while classmate Kristen Hickey (New Hyde Park, N.Y.) and sophomore Elizabeth Lombardo (Thomaston, Conn.) plated two runs each. Senior Kelsey Boarman (North Dighton, Mass.) allowed seven hits and two runs while striking out five in seven innings of work for the win.
 
Game Two: Salve Regina 6, Nichols 2
Sophomore Zoe Chevrette (Wilbraham, Mass.) racked up two hits – including an RBI single in the seventh – for the Bison while Kueling went 1-for-2 and drew an RBI walk in the top of the first. Meehan, meanwhile, allowed 11 hits and six runs (three earned) in six innings.
 
Freshman Kaleigh Dwyer (East Brunswick, N.J.) held the Bison to five hits and two runs over seven to earn her second win of the season for Salve Regina. Senior Kara O'Riley (Acton, Mass.) was 3-for-3 with a solo home run and scored twice. Galeazzi notched two hits and drove in a run while senior Nikki Bukovsky (Westport, Conn.) was 2-for-3 with a run.
 
All-Time Series
Today's games marked the 61st and 62nd all-time meetings between Nichols College and Salve Regina University. The Bison are now 25-37-1 all-time against the Seahawks.
