AMHERST, Mass. - The Nichols College baseball team fell to Amherst College 4-3 in non-conference action Wednesday afternoon at Memorial Field.

Junior
Nick Roy (Middletown, Conn.) reached base three times (one hit, two walks) and scored a pair of runs while also stealing a base. Seven different student-athletes made up the seven hits for the Bison – only three coming in the final four innings.

Amherst was paced by junior Max Steinhorn (Washington, D.C.) who had a game-high two hits while junior Ariel Kenney (Chula Vista, Calif.) drove in a pair of runs.

Tim Ford (Stafford Springs, Conn.) drove home Roy and junior
Cam Cook (Phoenixville, Pa.) on an RBI-double in the first to give the Bison their only lead of the game. Amherst answered right back with a pair of runs in their half of the inning to tie things up 2-2.

The Purple and White added another run in the third to which the Bison responded with a run in the sixth inning off an RBI-single to right field from senior
Matt Hardy (North Attleboro, Mass.).

Amherst scored the go-ahead run in the bottom of the eighth off a SAC-fly from sophomore Chase Henley (Pleasanton, Calif.).

Sophomore
Tyler Crane (East Amherst, N.Y.) received the no-decision for the Bison after tossing the first three innings and allowing three runs (two earned) on five hits while walking one and striking out two.

Sophomore Davis Brown (Sea Island, Calif.) started for the Purple and White and allowed three runs on four hits and three walks through five innings in the no-decision. The win went to senior Mike Castiglie (Middle Island, N.Y.) who allowed no runs on just one hit through two innings of relief.

All-Time Series
This was the first win for the Purple and White since 2008 in the series with the Bison still leading the all-time series at, 7-5.
