PUNTA GORDA, Fla. – The Nichols College baseball team opened its spring break trip with a 14-10 win over Heidelberg University in non-conference action at Charlotte High School in the Snowbird Classic.

The Bison received another huge performance at the plate from freshman
Kyle Bouchard (Fall River, Mass.) who drove in four runs and scored another with his four-hit display. Four other Bison student-athletes had at least two hits – including senior
Tim Ford (Stafford Springs, Conn.), junior
Nick Roy (Middletown, Conn.), sophomore
Joe Assenza (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.), and freshman
Ryan Nesbit (Manchester, Conn.).

Heidelberg saw three hits apiece from sophomores Matt Psychas (Ypsilanti, Mich.) and Parker Fronk (Medina, Ohio) – as both players also drove in a pair of runs.

Senior
Adam Rigney (Niantic, Conn.) earned his second win in as many starts after allowing just four runs through 6.1 innings on nine hits while striking out four.

The Student Prince jumped out to an early 1-0 lead after the first inning but the Bison came back with six runs over the third and fourth innings to take a 6-1 lead. Nichols also scored five runs in its half of the eighth inning to carry a 10-run lead into the ninth.

Heidelberg was able to strike for six runs in the final frame before finally being shut down by sophomore
Cam Beaulieu (Newburyport, Mass.) for the final out.

Sophomore Alex Sir Louis (North Royalton, Ohio) took the loss for the Student Prince allowing six runs on seven hits over the first 3.1 innings.

All-Time Series
This is the second-consecutive season that the Bison and the Student Prince have squared off and they have now split the all-time series, 1-1.
