Mel McAleer racked up three points as Nichols College defeated Post University 5-1 in non-conference action Saturday night at Levy Rink.
A total of nine different Bison student-athletes recorded at least one point – including junior
Callie Jackson (three assists) – while sophomore
Ashley Ljunggren potted her first collegiate goal and freshman
McKenna Gernander netted her first of the season. Nichols moved to 6-4-0 with the win - the best start in program history.
Freshman
Abby Bassett turned aside 18 shots to earn her second win of the season for Nichols, which outshot the Eagles 51-19. Freshman Ann Margaret Disciscio spoiled Bassett's shutout with her fifth goal of the season with 3:36 remaining in the third.
Freshman netminder Ashlynn Neurauter made 46 saves for the Eagles (1-10-2).

This evening's contest marked the second all-time meeting between Nichols College and Post University. The Bison lead the series, 2-0-0.
