DUDLEY, Mass. – The Nichols College men's soccer team suffered a 2-1 setback to Gordon College on Saturday afternoon in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action at the Nichols Soccer Field in Dudley, Mass.
The two teams entered the half tied at a goal apiece, but Gordon's sophomore Matt Chartier (Concord, N.H.) connected on a one-timer pass from senior Blake Troiani (Dallas, Texas) in the 83rd minute of play to lead the Fighting Scots past Nichols.
Gordon senior Josh Cochran (Bellville, Ohio) opened the scoring in the 10th minute as he took the ball from 35 yards out and rocketed a laser past the outstretched hands of Nichols sophomore goalie
Juan Carlos De La Cruz (Stamford, Conn.) to put Gordon in front 1-0.
The Bison answered in the 27th minute with a little help from the Fighting Scots as Gordon junior Collin Surface (Tallmadge, Ohio) put the ball into his own net to knot the game at 1-1.
Gordon held a 9-7 edge in shots in the game and attempted 13 corner kicks to just two for the Bison. Senior

Corey McEvoy (Bohemia, N.Y.) paced the Nichols offense with two shots apiece.
De La Cruz made one stop in the setback for the Bison, while Gordon freshman Wesley Sprague (Naperville, Ill.) stopped a pair of shots to earn his ninth win of the season.
