DUDLEY, Mass. – Freshman Jayla Simmons (Rockledge, Fla.) recorded a team-high 10 digs in Nichols College's 3-0 loss to the University of New England Saturday afternoon in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) volleyball action at the Nichols Athletic Center.
 
Classmate J'ena Baker (Rockledge, Fla.) tallied six kills and eight digs for the Bison, who also received eight digs from junior Kasey Ayer (Niantic, Conn.). Sophomore Moriah Burns (Holland, Mass.) handed out five assists.
 
The Nor'easters were led by sophomore Rene Roggenbuck (Goffstown, N.H.) with 10 kills (.368 hitting pct.). Freshman Kate Flynn (Merrimack, N.H.) compiled nine kills and seven digs while senior Grayson Szczepaniak (Lakewood, Ohio) went for seven kills and four service aces.
 
Roggenbuck picked up four kills in a 25-9 win in the first set. Flynn and Szczepaniak combined for 11 kills as UNE won the second set 25-11 before Roggenbuck threw down five kills in the third set, which the Nor'easters took 25-20.

Today's contest marked the first-ever meeting between Nichols College and the University of New England. The Nor'easters now lead the series, 1-0.
