SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The Nichols College volleyball team was defeated by Western New England University 3-0 Wednesday night in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action at the AHLC Gym.
 
Freshman J'ena Baker (Rockledge, Fla.) paced the Bison with 10 kills and 14 digs while classmate Megan Gardner (South Deerfield, Mass.) provided 11 digs and a team-high 10 assists.
 
The Golden Bears won game one 25-9, game two 25-11, and game three 25-10 behind nine kills from junior Alona Kornberg (Fair Lawn, N.J.) and a game-high 29 assists from senior Jenna Leuck (Dumont, N.J.).

Tonight's match marked the first-ever meeting between Nichols College and Western New England University. The Golden Bears now lead the series, 1-0.
