Game Recap: Women's Ice Hockey |

Buffalo State hands Bison 6-0 loss

BUFFALO, N.Y. – The Nichols College women's ice hockey team fell 6-0 to Buffalo State to close out the Puck Drop Classic Saturday evening at the Buffalo State Ice Arena.
 
Six different student-athletes scored goals for the Bengals while sophomore Megan Reukauf (Depew, N.Y.) and junior Emily DeCock (Ramara, Ontario) added two assists apiece.
 
The game remained scoreless through one period but the Bengals were able to pot four goals in the second period. Their first two goals came within 11 seconds of each other with sophomore Emma Ruggiero (Amherst, N.Y.) scoring at 5:38 before junior Missy Mallon (Amherst, N.Y.) added the next one.
 
They then scored two goals within 14 seconds of each other later in the period with junior Catie Horvatis (Elma, N.Y.) scoring at 12:05 before freshman Kristine Strawberry (Edmonton, Alberta) scored her first goal of the season.
 
The Bison were outshot 47-6 for the game. Sophomores Marg Reid (Harrisville, R.I.) and Kelly Ferreira (North Falmouth, Mass.) paced the Bison with two shots each.
 
Sophomore Cassandra Goyette (Norton, Mass.) made 41 stops for the Bison in the loss while junior Justine Silva (Baldwin Park, Calif.) made two saves over the first two periods for the win before freshman Serena Angelo (Rochester, N.Y.) had a four stops in the final period.

The Bengals now take the lead in the all-time series at 2-1-0 after splitting the last two seasons.
