Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Fighting Scots eliminate Bison from CCC Tourney, 4-0

WENHAM, Mass. – The Nichols College men's soccer team fell 4-0 to Gordon College in the Quarterfinal Round of the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Tournament Saturday afternoon at The Quad.
 
The Fighting Scots scored a pair of goals in each half while outshooting the Bison 13-11 for the game – including 7-2 in shots on goal.
 
Junior Josh Cochran (Bellville, Ohio) scored a pair of goals and assisted on another and senior Caleb Cole (Coatesville, Pa.) assisted on the first goal of the game before adding one of his own in the second half.
 
Cochran scored the first goal of the game at 16:32 when he headed in a ball to the left side of the net off of a Fighting Scots set piece. Gordon added another goal at 25:01 when sophomore Ian Burkhart (Lancaster, Pa.) scored his first goal of the season.
 
The Fighting Scots scored on two headers exactly one minute apart in the final 10 minutes of the game to put the Bison away.
 
The Bison were led by four student-athletes with two shots apiece including senior captains Tyler Brenner (Stuart, Fla.) and David Melanson (Simsbury, Conn.) along with sophomore Gregory Giglio (Deer Park, N.Y.) and junior Paul Sickinger (Tyngsboro, Mass.).
 
Sophomore Patrick Porpora (Westminster, Mass.) took the loss after stopping two shots through the first 47:28 before being replaced by freshman Zach Suhoza (Clearwater, Fla.) who made one save to close out the game. Senior Josh Spoonhour (Greencastle, Pa.) made two saves in the win for the Fighting Scots.
 
All-Time Series
The Bison have dropped the last three meetings with the Fighting Scots and trail the all-time series now at 12-26-6.
