WENHAM, Mass. – Sophomore
Erin Jillson (New Salem, Mass.) scored her first goal of the season for the Nichols College field hockey team, which dropped a 2-1 decision to Gordon College in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) field hockey action Saturday afternoon.
Junior
Amy McDonnell (Newbury, Mass.) picked up an assist on the goal while freshman
Brooke Misbach (Guilford, Conn.) turned aside 12 shots. The Bison were outshot 24-4.
Gordon junior Emily Allcroft (Haydenville, Mass.) broke a 1-1 tie with a goal with just over a minute remaining in regulation to lift the Fighting Scots to victory. Senior Karli-An Gilbert (Scarborough, Maine) also scored for the home team, staking the Fighting Scots to a 1-0 lead 14 minutes into the second half.
Jillson then tied the game when she took a feed from McDonnell and sent a looping shot into the top right corner to tie the game. Allcroft's game-winning goal came when she collected her own rebound and beat Misbach over her glove hand.
Senior Shannon Hicks (Scarborough, Maine) was credited with two saves for Gordon.
All-Time Series
This afternoon's contest marked the 45th all-time meeting between Nichols College and Gordon College. The Fighting Scots have won the last eight meetings and now lead the series, 27-17-1.
