This afternoon's contest marked the 24th all-time meeting between UNE and Nichols. With the win, the Bison move to 19-5 all-time against the Nor'easters and extend their regular season win streak over UNE to 12.
 
Three Stars of the Game
1) Nichols senior Christian Horton (Rutland, Mass.) – filled the stat sheet with a team-high 16 points, seven rebounds, six dimes, and two steals
2) Nichols senior Gustave Koumare (Harlem, N.Y.) – nearly recorded a triple-double with 10 points, nine assists, and eight rebounds
3) Nichols freshman Marcos Echevarria (Lynn, Mass.) – recorded 15 points to go with five assists, four steals, and three boards
 
Quick Synopsis
The Bison outscored the Nor'easters 60-29 over the final 20 minutes and ran away with a 98-64 win in Commonwealth Coast Conference action. Horton led six Bison in double-figures with 16 points while Echevarria and junior Brandon Marshall (Hartford, Conn.) netted 15 apiece, junior Devin Stallings (Waterbury, Conn.) scored 14, senior Irving Eggleston (East Lyme, Conn.) dropped in 12, and Koumare chipped in with 10. Senior Devin Thompson (Winthrop, Mass.) led UNE with 16 on 6-of-14 shooting.
 
Key Stat of the Game
The Bison knocked down 20 of their 29 field goals attempts in the second half (70 percent). Echevarria was 4-of-5, Eggleston and Marshall were 3-of-4, and junior Nate Tardy (Moodus, Conn.) was 2-of-3.
 
Turning Point
After Thompson opened the second-half scoring with a three to tie the game at 38, Nichols ripped off 31-10 run to go up by 21 points (69-48) with 9:18 remaining. Echevarria sparked the run with 11 points while Stallings had seven and Eggleston scored six.

-UNE held a 40-32 edge on the glass, led by sophomore Drew Coveney (Londonderry, N.H.) paced the Nor'easters with 11 while Koumare's eight led Nichols.
-The Bison shot 52 percent from the field (30-of-69) while UNE connected on 39 percent of its shots (25-of-65).
-Eggleston recorded five steals while Echevarria tallied four.
