Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

Bane's late goals propel Bison past Hawks, 13-11

LEICESTER, Mass. – Senior Michael Bane (North Grafton, Mass.) and sophomore Tyler Sikich (Hermosa Beach, Calif.) each recorded a hat trick in Nichols College's 13-11 win at Becker College in non-conference men's lacrosse action Wednesday at Alumni Field.

Freshmen McKenzie Martin (Merrimack, N.H.) and Joshua Ferreira (Granby, Conn.) each potted a pair as Nichols snapped a six-game losing skid and moved to 5-8 on the season. Sikich also collected eight ground balls while junior Anthony Verville (Portland, Maine) notched five.

Becker was paced by sophomore Blake Boutiette (Burriville, R.I.) and freshman Avyay Chaganty (Bridgewater, N.J.), each of whom netted three goals, while sophomore Daniel Johnson (Plymouth, Mass.) tallied a goal and two helpers.

Nichols led 3-1 after one quarter behind goals from Verville, Sikich, and Martin. After Boutiette scored to open the second quarter and cut the Bison lead to 3-2, Nichols ripped off the final five goals of the half to take an 8-2 lead to the break. Sikich scored twice while Bane, Ferreira, and an up-goal from junior Brian Hancock (Groton, Mass.) each found the back of the net.

Goals from Martin and senior Corey Davis (Wakefield, Mass.) in the third quarter helped the Bison carry a 10-5 lead to the fourth. Becker opened the fourth with five unanswered markers to tie the game at 10, the tying goal coming when Johnson fed Boutiette for his 18th of the season with 6:29 on the clock.

Ferreiro and Matthew Genkos (Worcester, Mass.) traded goals and, with the game tied at 11, Bane potted his 33rd with 3:42 to go to secure the win. He added his 34th less than one minute later, giving him 120 for his career – seven shy of David French's school-record of 127.

Freshman James Keane (Franklin, Mass.) made 14 stops to earn the win for Nichols. Senior Anthony Jordan (West Hartford, Conn.) suffered the loss after turning away 13 shots on net.

Nichols hosts Mitchell Thursday at 7 p.m. while the Hawks play at Daniel Webster Saturday at noon.
