Bison fall 4-0 to Wesleyan

Box Score

MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – Freshman Lindsay O'Connell (Danvers, Mass.) made 38 saves as the Nichols College women's ice hockey team fell to Wesleyan 4-0 in non-conference action Wednesday night at Spurrier-Snyder Rink.

Cardinals senior Jordan Schildhaus (Woodbury, N.Y.) upped her season goal total to 10 and points total to 19 with a pair of markers while junior goaltender Corinne Rivard (Glendale, Ariz.) posted her third shutout of the year in 10 starts with 20 saves.

Wesleyan scored in each period as senior Lilah Fones (Easton, Conn.) got the Cardinals on the board at 8:55 of the opening stanza with her first of the year, putting home the rebound from the left side of a shot by freshman Cici Frattasio (Walpole, Mass.). O'Connell was busy in the contest as Wesleyan held a 41-20 edge in shots on goal.  Fones' tally proved to be the game-winner.

Schildhaus netted the next two Cardinal goals, taking a pass along the right board from sophomore Ellery Sarosi (Ann Arbor, Mich.), skating into the Bison zone, cutting through the right circle past the defense and wristing a rising shot past O'Connell high to the glove side at 4:50 on the middle period.

The Cardinals added two more in the third period to seal the deal.

The Bison travel on Friday to take on UMass Boston at 4:00 p.m. Wesleyan heads to Hamilton to face the Continentals Friday at 7:00 p.m.
