Box Score FITCHBURG, Mass. – The Nichols College women's soccer team allowed a goal with nine seconds left in the first half as it falls 1-0 to Fitchburg State Thursday evening in non-conference action.
The Falcons (2-6-0) scored in the 45th minute of the first half when sophomore Victoria Floeck (East Taunton, Mass.) headed in a rebounded shot off of junior
Kelly English (Mansfield, Mass.). Senior Mikaela Foley (Jefferson, Mass.) was credited with the assist on the play.
The Bison were outshot 6-1 in the first half and 13-6 for the game. Senior
Michelle Gardner (Ayer, Mass.) and freshman
Meghan Dunn (Dudley, Mass.) paced the Bison with two shots apiece while freshman
Danielle Barry (Springfield, Mass.) and junior
Lindsey Stewart (Mashpee, Mass.) each provided one.
Senior Sierra Santos (Lakeville, Mass.) led the way for the Falcons with three shots while eight other student-athletes fired off shots.
English falls to 2-4-0 on the season with her five-save effort and senior Kelsey Ford (Franconia, N.H.) improves to 2-6-0 with her three saves. The win also marks Ford's second shutout of the season; her first came against Becker earlier this month.
The Bison host Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) foe Curry on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. The Falcons host Mass. Maritime on Saturday at noon.
