Lindsay O'Connell (Danvers, Mass.) made 35 saves in the final two periods as the Nichols College women's ice hockey team fell to St. Anselm 7-0 in Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Women's East action Saturday afternoon at Sullivan Arena.
The Hawks (6-1-1, 4-1-1 ECAC East) saw seven goals by seven different student-athletes including sophomores Alison Quinn (Canton, Mass.), Alex Starzyk (Enfield, Conn.), Meaghan Spurling (Byfield, Mass.), and Alison Butler (Danvers, Mass.) along with juniors Alex Kazmer (Crystal Lake, Ill.) and Marianne Kristiansen (Anchorage, Alaska), and senior Sabrina Ianetti (Lynn, Mass.).
Quinn finished the game with three points to pace St. Anselm while Starzyk and Spurling each had two points.
Nichols (3-5-0, 1-5-0 ECAC East) senior
Grace Murphy (Montclair, Va.) had four of the Bison's 11 shots while Quinn had a game-high seven shots for the Hawks.
Senior
Tori Gianformaggio (Huntington Beach, Calif.) takes the loss and falls to 3-4-0 after allowing three goals in the first period and stopping 10 shots. O'Connell took over to start the second period and finished the game. Sophomore Hannah Synnott (Montclair, N.J.) stopped all 11 shots she faced on her way to her second win and second shutout of the season.
The Bison host SUNY Canton on Tuesday at 3:40 p.m. The Hawks travel to take on Colby College on Friday at 7:00 p.m.
