Box Score BRISTOL, R.I. - The No. 8 Nichols College women's soccer team fell 4-0 to No. 1 Roger Williams in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Quarterfinal action Saturday afternoon.
The Bison were making their third postseason appearance under head coach
Damir Pesa, and first since 2011.
Nichols and Roger Williams (16-2-3) were scoreless until the 33rd minute when junior Mariah Kaiser (Portsmouth, R.I.) took a touch pass from senior captain Kristen Tetreault (Tolland, Conn.) and put it into the back of the net to give the Hawks the lead, 1-0.
Kaiser – the CCC Offensive Player of the Year – added another just before the end of the half when in the 44th minute, she potted her 16th goal of the season. Junior Carla Salcedo (Mexico City, Mexico) was credited with the assist on the play.
The Hawks tallied two more goals in the second half, including one by Tetreault and one by senior captain Rebecca Smith (Portland, Maine) to put the Bison away.
The Bison were held to just six shots including only one in the first half. Junior captain
Kathleen Ledbetter (Norton, Mass.) paced the Bison with four shots while the Hawks were led by junior Jessica Valenti (North Reading, Mass.) with six.
Junior
Kelly English (Mansfield, Mass.) stopped six shots but falls to 4-11-0 on the year. Freshman Sydney Martin (Scarborough, Maine) had four saves while improving to 16-2-3 this season.
The Bison's season comes to an end with a final record of 7-12-0. No. 1 Roger Williams will host No. 5 Gordon College on Tuesday, November 4.Â
